A true family summer retreat on a small, spring fed lake, that makes one feel as though they have went back in time upon visiting it each and every time. Well off the beaten path of the region's most popular lakes, Bitterroot Lake embraces history with strict build guidelines that preserve the shoreline and the beauty of the lake's natural and remote setting.
Designing a large family retreat that sets into this lakeshore without disturbing its ambiance was taken seriously. Always creating projects in a manner that would please both the early homesteaders to the discerning modern day client, the design team moved rapidly to bring the home to life, very early on with the visual delivery of renders. To maintain a single level home was the primary goal from the start, a goal that incorporated the very essence of this setting in each stroke of the pencil, through the final detailed renders.
Within just weeks the Bitterroot Escape came to life and the Owner’s were quickly ready to see it become a reality. A salutation to the lake life, a massive water feature was created to literally build this home around. From stepping out of the car one feels as though this home was set into a water filled setting, with the large stream running across the entire front of the home and spanned by a long bridge that steps up to a 12’ x 10’ glass pivot point door that spans the view directly out to the lake beyond. With several waterfalls that end just above the hot pool the stream will be the playground setting for future generations to enjoy.
With a covered, but semi-attached, “play barn” that features every activity for all ages, this is truly an escape from reality. Outdoor living is everything on the lake but was the key focus for the Owner’s. Most days are spent on or by the water and this design prioritizes that to the max degree. Just steps from the water sits a massive in-ground hot pool and outdoor living space that one feels as though they are at a boutique resort.
But once the sun goes down the luxurious, yet functional, chef’s kitchen will hold the entire family during meal prep and family time with nights ending in 6 oversize suites that each member of the family was able to custom design to fit their imagination. Escape is the first thought that will come to mind upon visiting this spectacular home and the moments and years of enjoyment are why Payne Cole exists.
